Gilbert -- On May 9th floodwaters left a path of destruction through the town of Gilbert. Nearly two months later the water, mud and trash are gone...and life for people seems to have returned to normal.

"I know the people of this town, and this community. We rebound every time, anything, any obstacle this town will come together and pull together and make it through," says Victoria Surber, Administrative Assistant for the Town of Gilbert.

Many businesses in town have re-opened, while a handful of shops and residents still remain in clean-up mode...pointing out it's going quicker than expected.

"Probably within a month we'll have everything done, hopefully. There's just so much to do. It's overwhelming, just overwhelming," says Nancy Justus, a flood victim in Gilbert.

Clean-up also continues for another group of people. Those that helped others during the initial flooding are just now getting around to taking care of their own flood-related issues.

Floodwaters took part of the foundation of the Gilbert Church of God, and just this week church members started repairs.

"I'd much rather take care of everybody else to make sure they're fine and in good shape. Our damage compared to most people, ours is minor," says Reverend Scotty Dingess, pastor of the Gilbert Church of God.

While the area is on the road to recovery, total recovery is probably several months away.
