WHEELING, WV -- Wheeling Police say a single gunshot wound to the head killed 19 year old Ashley Blankenship of Wheeling.

But that is all the information that is being released two days after the Wheeling girl was murdered in an apartment at the intersection of Eagle Avenue and Owl Court.

The family who just moved in next door say they didn't hear anything that sounded like that.

"We really didn't see anything," says Holly Parker, who lives in the adjacent apartment. "The only thing we heard was loud music like maybe there was a party going on."

It was a bit overwhelming for Parker, who says she didn't even know the neighbors.

"My concerns would probably be I'm pregnant with twins and I have a three-year-old daughter," said Parker. "And I'm kind of scared to go out on the back patio. I've only lived here three days. So I'm a little shaken."

Those are just the kind of concerns the police say do not apply in this case.

One officer told 7 News this is not the case of a random killer on the loose, but a very specific incident.

Other neighbors may hold bits and pieces to the puzzle.

One man said he heard men arguing angrily Saturday night.

Another neighbor reported hearing a gunshot at 3:27 Sunday morning, and then hearing tires squealing four minutes later.

For Holly Parker, it seems more like fiction than real life.

"You watch this stuff on A & E, but you never dream it would happen right next door in your neighborhood," she said.

The family has made funeral arangements for the 19 year old girl.

Her visitation will be at the South Wheeling Kepner Funeral home tomorrow.

No positive ID? Her obituary is in the paper today and the funeral home handling the services has a picture of her. But she's not been identified? Yeah, right.
