Monroe County, Ohio -- A text message saying a 3 year-old had been abducted out of Monroe County is false, police say.

The message circulated on cellphones across the Ohio Valley Tuesday night. Police are trying to track down the original source of the message. If they find out who started it, they could face charges.

This has been going around for a while now, just noting different locations. If you would like to know how it all got started, go to www.snopes.com and search for "fake amber alerts".

I dont know what the deal is with this amber alert still being out there... I went last night, and googled it. I was a concerned citizen.. This crap has to stop someone needs to get to the bottom of it. When you google " Monroe County Amber Alert, 3 year old girl," the whole cell text message comes up.. the link for number 5. is a computer VIRUS..... How do I know, I clicked it and got a virus, and speent my evening, and morning restoring my computer..... I really hope someone gets to the bottom of this........ This is no joking matter, I beleive who ever is responsible should be punished to the maximum........ It is no joke to spread a false amber alert..... There are kids out there that are missing and at times, the amber alert is not issued fast enough, then you have hoaxes like this.... Shame, on this person. Awarenesss needs to be sent also so that no other concerned citized clicks on the link.....
