WHEELING -- Former Linsly High School basketball great and New York Liberty forward Ashley Battle was back in Wheeling, reading to kids and teaching basketball skills to the little ones at Wheeling Country Day School.
Battle and Liz Hofreuter-Landini, the Head of School at Country Day, have been friends since they met ten years ago at Linsly.
"I love coming home," said Battle. "I don't get to do it often with my schedule, but I love seing old friends and helping kids," said Battle.
"I love seeing A-B," said Hofreuter-Landini. "She's such a great person and loves being around the kids."
Battle just completed her fourth year with the Liberty. She averaged a little over five points per game.
Battle, who is from Pittbsburgh, gives back to the community as part of the WNBA Cares Program.
