Police are looking for the man who robbed the Red Roof Inn in St. Clairsville.

ST. CLAIRESVILLE, Ohio --  The Belmont County Sheriff's office has released surveillance video of an armed robbery at the Red Roof Inn in St. Clairsville.

Police said a man walked into the motel with a large knife and robbed the woman working the desk at knife point. The suspect managed to get away with around 500 dollars in cash.

The man is described as a heavy-set black male, middle-aged, bald, and wearing a dark jacket and dark pants. This may not be the first motel the man has hit.

In fact, according to police, he matches the description of a man who has robbed other Red Roof Inns. The Red Roof Inn had no comment.

Guests at the motel said they were more surprised than concerned.

Its to bad the Sheriff's office is investigating their own Deputy Kittle for hacking in to email accounts while on the job. When is the department going to take their own crimes as seriously as they do the crimes of the public. Why isn't Deputy Kittle being punished for committing crimes while on duty. Is this something they endorse? They don't seem to have an issue with it since they promoted Kittle after he committed the crime. We want and disserve answers. Why is Butler and Burgoyne protecting Kittle when they fired a black deputy for posting comments on his MySpace account while he was off duty? Wouldn't committing a crime while on duty be worse than a non crime while off duty? Seems like a double standard to me.

Lone clerk with excess available cash invites robbery. Reducing loss exposure with a drop safe for excess cash is good security.

Publishing the loss amount is always bad practice because it encourages others to rob similar locations. The amount of the loss is not relevant -armed robbery is armed robbery.
