HAMBLETON -- "Running through, busting a lot of tackles - pretty fun. Scoring touchdowns, making it look hard - it's actually pretty easy sometimes," said Tucker County Senior Quarterback Brendan Miller about why he likes to play football.
It's easy for Miller to make big plays. The senior is 6-foot, 2-inches tall and weighs 238 pounds. And the Mountain Lions wouldn't have him anywhere else but on their team.
"It's an advantage. We've played coaches that have said, 'Man, we wish he was on our team.' Of course, I'm always telling him in practice, 'I'm just glad you're on our team.' Because it's hard to defend a quarterback like that, that can throw the ball well and run the ball as well as he does," Head Coach A.J. Rapp said.
Miller said the big win over Clay-Battelle to get the Mountain Lions into the second round of the playoffs is the best moment of his senior year, but he knows he's never alone on the field.
"There's a bunch of other people that contribute to make me better. Like the linemen have to block for me to get all my yards and the defense has to play good to give us good field position," said Miller.
With 39 touchdowns and more than 3,000 offensive yards on the season, the senior quarterback is now in the college spotlight.
"Concord's contacted me. Last night, Potomac State called me for baseball. WVU's asked for a couple tapes for both sports. All the local colleges are out here pretty much to talk to me," said Miller.
Miller said he wants to stay close to Tucker County.
