HUNTINGTON -- If the last two Marshall games have shown anything, it's that the future looks bright at the wide receiver position.
True freshman Aaron Dobson made a huge splash on Saturday.
The former South Charleston High School student had a career day, hauling in four passes for 127 receiving yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning score.
One of those catches came off a flea flicker, as Dobson made a juggling catch at the two-yard line for a 48 yard gain.
Coach Mark Snyder said Dobson's ability to go vertical impressed him greatly during the recruiting process.
Not just during football season either.
"I remember last year watching him play basketball," Snyder recollected. "I was there watching my daughter cheer against his team. And I remember telling my wife, 'we're taking him.' He took over the game. The way he jumped and had such soft hands."
But even Snyder didn't think Dobson would come so far, so fast.
"As a freshman? No," Snyder said.
Dobson will get a good chance to find the endzone for a third straight game this coming Saturday.
UTEP ranks near the bottom of the nation when it comes to defending the pass.
Marshall and the Miners kick-off at 3:00 p.m. in El Paso, Texas.
