WHEELING -- Red scarves are being shipped to the Orphan Foundation of America after several people helped knit together the donations.
Wheeling Jesuit University employees Debra Hull, Barbara Kulpa, Connie Myer, and Julia Osland knitted several red scarves. Osland enlisted her fellow professors and employees in warming the Orphan Foundation with the knitted scarves.
Professor Hull got her Bethany Women's Club involved as well and added to total amount of scarves.
Professor Osland's mother is very passionate about knitting and even added to the gift package with a cable stitch washable merino wool model.
Other WJU Employees that helped in the donations were Janet Bischof, Jamie Borgan, Kelly Mummert, Jane Neuenschwander and Laurie Ruberg. These employees, along with Julie Osland, donated gift cards while Erin Ball donated gift bags.
The Orphan Foundation of America is a non-profit group that supports young adults of the foster care system. OFA was founded in 1981.
"The items we send to the OFA in December will go in the February care packages," said Osland.
