MOUNDSVILLE -- Marshall County authorities are investigating the case of a 9-month-old boy who was found severely burned in his bedroom. Marshall County Sheriff John Gruzinskas said his deputies executed a search warrant on the home at the Eagle Hollow Apartments and took the baby's crib.

They are sending it for testing to see if the crib was faulty.

The incident happened Dec. 12 in Marshall County. The cause of the little baby boy's burns have not been disclosed.

He is currently being treated at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

The only thing I can figure is that maybe they had a space heater or fireplace near the crib, it fell apart, and the baby fell too close to the source. I just wish there was more information available at this point, because it is terribly confusing.

They may be looking for a mattress or coverings which were not fire retardant or traces of accelerants? If a parent was (unwisely but possibly) smoking near a crib while putting the baby to bed the mattress or coverings could have caught fire with only the slightest provocation. Or they could be real sickos who tossed an accelerant on the crib but I think I would wait for all the facts to unfold before passing judgement.

What?!? The CRIB may be faulty in burning a little baby???? Now THAT is the most insane thing I have heard yet. Does the crib plug in? Does it have an 'electric mattress'? I am sure not. As Ella stated, taxpayers again are going to foot the bill. What's new?

Of course! This must be one of those new 'self-warming' cribs.

Someone's being taken ride and the taxpayers are going to be footing the bill as usual.
