Players lend a hand at the Salvation Army.
By Jared Fialko
DETROIT, Mich. -- On Christmas morning the Herd and the Bobcats were up before dawn helping to spread some holiday cheer.
About 15 players from each squad helped serve breakfast to the less fortunate at the Salvation Army in downtown Detroit.
Close to 3,000 meals were prepared.
Marshall and Ohio players joined an additional 120 volunteers for the 7:30 a.m. meal.
Some players, like Marshall's Ashton Hall, really took the event to heart.
The Senior safety did not slow down, going from table to table, several times over, making sure everyone had a hearty breakfast.
"I'm constantly scanning the floor, it's like looking for a wide receiver," Hall said. "I don't want anyone to be waiting for food or a drink."
