POWHATAN POINT, Ohio -- A series of thefts near the Powhatan Point area has Belmont County Sheriff Fred Thompson putting residents on high alert.
Wednesday, in broad daylight, a newer white pick-up truck, make and model unknown, was seen backed up to a garage off of Pipe Creek on Warren Hill Road. One noticeable feature on the truck was a black “Tilt” bed liner.
It was later discovered that the thieves broke down the garage door and made off with a Blue New Holland Lawn Tractor valued at roughly $25,000.
These types of thefts have become a major problem in that part of the county, Thompson said.
